You are in front of the remains of the Colonial era
iron furnace constructed and put into blast in 1767. These remains were
uncovered by an archeologist in the 1960's and we are working to fund
stabilization of the stonework. The water
wheel was on the north side (left edge of
the image) and the casting
house was on the south side. The image was
taken from the the area of the original charging
bridge on the furnace bank.
