1860s Style Quilt Raffle |
The Friends of Long Pond Ironworks is offering a unique opportunity
to its members and the public. The
West Milford Heritage Quilters, creators of the township’s
Heritage Quilt, have generously volunteered to create and donate a queen-size
quilt to be raffled with the proceeds going to support FOLPI's work stabilizing,
restoring and interpreting the Historic District.
The “Basket of Scraps” pattern is an authentic Civil War-era design,
and the quilters are using reproduction 1860s fabrics and hand-quilting techniques
to create this heirloom-quality piece. The quilt will have an estimated value
of $1000, yet tickets are only $2 each.
Tickets will be available at the Museum on weekends
and during special events, as well as from FOLPI members. If interested but
unable to visit the site or contact a member, let us know via our info@LongPondIronworks.org
email address.
During the Civil War Living History Weekend, May
3-4, 2003, the Heritage Quilters were at the Visitors Center working
on the quilt. It was an excellent opportunity to tour Long Pond and experience
one of the unique events held at this fascinating location.
The final drawing will be held on Sunday, September 14, at 3pm during our
annual Revolutionary War Weekend - the winner need not be present at
time of drawing, but this is another event you won't want to miss!
